Don’t force lyrics and songs — A note to musicians and worship leaders

The holy spirit gives groans in the inner man often too deep for words, too expansive for religious rhetoric, and catchy “Christian” vocabulary. A groan and pain and sound that beckons one’s very core. It cannot remain in a box and body. It was Divinely birthed and it did not originate in man.

There is a groan and Divine sounds that are beyond words that can only be released through audible conduits not contained in words. It can be released through an instrument, human voice or whatever vessel God’s anointing blows in. The temptation will always be to perform, “sound good” and be approved by man.

Let go trying to perform and package something catchy and repeatable, sellable, and manufacturable—God is fresh and new, let Him be, in and through you. Musicians and worship leaders, let go trying to always force songs and lyrics in every moment. Let out what is beckoning on the inside, without trying to change before it manifests externally.
