Devotion to God is not based on emotion and feelings. – @Strahan Coleman “Becoming”

If true devotion to God is based on attention to God, independent of emotion, then it’s possible to have emotions and feelings without having true devotion to God. Emotions, if not directed to God, can fuel consumption and worship of self. Emotions and feelings can become a never- ending vaccum of self focus and attention.

Discipline can cut through emotion and feeling to fight against the very thing we are desiring to give attention to.

Regarding the musical worship space, whether “worship leading,” a lay person in a corporate worship setting, or worship in the secret place – taking attention off self and onto God, letting go of control to Holy Spirit leading, puts God in the GOD spot in our heart and the environment around us.
